Travel Guide

As the largest island in the Canary Islands, Tenerife is an island of two halves split by the volcano of Mount Teide, Spain’s highest mountain. The north is very green and offers craggy coves and manmade beaches; the south enjoys a better sunshine record and tends to be more of a barren landscape. Santa Cruz is the capital of Tenerife and is a large town with a harbour that welcomes cruise liners on a regular basis; there is a wide range of shops and markets in the city.

Holidays to Tenerife have always been famous for sun, sea and the black volcanic sand, however there are many more attractions that this ever popular island has to offer. From beautiful landscapes of the Orotava valley to the tropical hills of the north with traditional whitewashed Canarian villages and the stunning craggy cliffs at Los Gigantes.

The main resort in the north is Puerto de la Cruz, a resort that welcomes thousands of tourists every year yet still retains some traditions; its nightlife has a sophisticated feel. The resort is very green and enjoys stunning scenery but unlike most of the north coast actually has a good sunshine record. There are plenty of good quality hotels as well as a wide choice of bars, restaurants and shops.

Most holidaymakers who enjoy holidays in Tenerife tend to go the south of the island and head for the major resorts of Los Cristianos, Costa Adeje and the liveliest resort Playa de las Americas. All three resorts have enjoyed massive investments over the past few years and all offer a great holiday atmosphere with good quality accommodation. There is something for all budgets from self catering apartments to ultra luxury resort style all inclusive hotels.

Tenerife holidays are popular year round thanks to the warm climate and enjoy an excellent range of flights from UK airports with hundreds of flights a week. So pack your case and get ready to experience the sights and sounds of this popular Canary Island.
